Since 2023, ElBits has worked to standardise and digitalise across grid companies. Since launching Tilko in 2025, ElBits has grown to cover around 90 percent of metering points in Norway. ElBits’ work can create further value for grid customers and companies, but structural barriers may get in the way.

ElBits was established in 2023 as the grid companies’ shared innovation and digitalisation partner. The company’s purpose is to develop, deliver and operate shared digital services that contribute to the rational utilisation of the power system.

ElBits focuses on developing standards, data and services that promote efficient digital interaction between grid companies, between grid levels and between grid companies and other actors. ElBits has engaged THEMA to evaluate the value ElBits has created to date, the value ElBits can realise going forward and the key barriers to value realisation.
