Education: MSc Economics (London School of Economics), BA Philosophy, Politics & Economics (University of Oxford)
Most of my work draws on my experience with market design. In other words, I figure out how best to organise and regulate energy markets. Among other things, I work on market integration, network regulation and tariff design, climate and energy policy and retail competition. These projects often have broad impacts on the sector and so I get to work with a mixture of governments, regulators and commercial clients.
My job lets me put my knowledge of microeconomics and the energy sector to work by figuring out how real-world markets can be made to perform more effectively. It’s very satisfying to try and understand why the market isn’t delivering and then develop the solutions needed to fix it alongside clients that have the power to make real improvements.
Prior experience: Frontier Economics, Department of Energy and Climate Change (London)
