The THEMA family continues to grow and during February we are excited to welcome our newest colleague, Sofie. Newly-graduated, Sofie will strengthen our interdisciplinary team with her background in political economy and industrial ecology.
THEMA’s spring editions of the power market outlook for Europe will be launched February 28th, 2021. The reports include three updated scenarios. In the Best Guess scenario Europe is carbon-neutral by 2050. Special topics include hedging options and policies in the Nordic report and hybrid assets in the Continental report.
2020 was a very special year for everyone due to the global pandemic. However, the Nordic power market was affected more by extreme weather conditions than by the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, the EU has relentlessly stepped up efforts to transform the energy system in its new "Green Deal", and ambitious strategies for hydrogen and offshore energy. Both areas that can provide interesting opportunities for Norway.
At the beginning of the new year, Arndt von Schemde stepped down as the CEO of THEMA and handed over his responsibilities to Gorm Lunde. At the same time, Kristine Fiksen took over the position of chairwoman from Håkon Taule.
Akershus and KLP had been looking to involve a third long-term investor in the wind project currently under construction in Nord-Odal. Cloudberry will join them as co-owners of the project. THEMA’s Espen Fossum supported Akershus Energi during the transaction.
