In the Model Forum, attended by existing and prospective subscribers to the TheMA power market model, we presented the improvements and changes in our latest model release, TheMA 2.8, that include:
- Aligning our scenarios to EU-wide and national climate ambitions by including new technologies (CCS, hybrid assets, prosumers) and improving the modelling of a hydrogen market and investments in renewable energy sources
- Improved hydro modelling in the Alps, including best-point modelling and updated inflow profiles for historic weather years
- A python-based framework for output handling and result analysis that allows for easy data extraction, plotting and result comparison.
- An update on the short-term power market model to accommodate for different data providers
Feedback from our clients is paramount to our modelling philosophy. It allows us to adapt and continuously improve our modelling capabilities while at the same time accounting for the latest developments in the markets that are of interest to our users.
The annual Model Forum is a vital platform to engage with our model users and exchange views on future development work to further improve the value of our models. The Model Forum is an excellent opportunity for our model users and our modelling team to discuss new issues and how to address them in the continuous refinement process of our model. Transparency and user-friendliness are guiding principles in our approach to modelling and we constantly strive to make the model as useful to our clients as possible.
We are already looking forward to next year’s Model Forum and are excited to continue the work to further improve our modelling.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any input on new model features and suggested development, no matter if you are one of our current users or are interested in testing the TheMA power market model. This would also give you the opportunity to be a part of our next modelling forum and gain interesting insights on the way we model the future European power system.
