Renewable power generation receives additional support from the Guarantees of Origin and carbon markets, as well as from the sale elcertificates and other support schemes. Our Green Values report focuses on the status and future of these values.
Key features
EU ETS: The EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) indirectly supports investors in renewable energy generation by increasing power prices without increasing costs.
Guarantees of Origin: Guarantees of Origin (GOs) are becoming an increasingly important revenue stream for newbuild renewable projects. In our analysis, we look at the consequences of supply and demand developments and forecast GO prices out to 2050.
Elcertificate scheme: An elcertificate scheme has provided an additional market-based revenue stream for renewable generation projects in Norway and Sweden since 2012. We present an analysis of the market’s supply/demand balance and implied price trends for the life of the market.
Other green income streams: Most countries have implemented national support schemes to incentivise investment in renewable energy and, ultimately, increase the share of renewables in their energy mix. The report provides an overview of the most important support schemes in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
