Climate and energy policy ambitions and regulatory changes are significantly affecting market design and power prices across the EU. Given these changes, I am mainly focused on analysing the implications of integrating higher shares of distributed energy resources into the power system and how to deal with the increased need for flexibility in power markets. My day-to-day activities at THEMA include working with dynamic network tariffs and keeping track of new technologies and business models that emerge as a result of the new opportunities created by, for example, smart grids and sector coupling. I also closely follow the drivers affecting European power prices for our power market forecasts.

This is one of the main reasons why working here is so rewarding. Every project addresses different facets of the energy transition and adds both to the client’s and my own understanding of this vast and complex ecosystem. Discussing current issues with key actors in the sector, delivering solutions and achieving a positive impact feels very satisfying and is worth the effort. Therefore, and as part of a team of insightful, accomplished experts and kind colleagues, working at THEMA is inspiring. I learn something new every day!

Prior experience: Internships with the International Energy Agency, BayWa r.e. and the Austrian Embassy in Washington D.C.
