I started my career in THEMA in August 2020, shortly after receiving my master’s degree in nanotechnology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). During my studies I became increasingly interested in renewable energy technologies. Therefore, when the time case to choose a specialization, the choice naturally fell on nanotechnology for materials, energy, and the environment. At the same time, I often felt that my study program was very research focused whilst I wanted to work with themes a little bit closer to solving real-life problems. Therefore, I was very pleased to start my career in THEMA. In THEMA I get to work with contemporary issues related to the green transition of our energy system. It is exciting that the projects that we do have real impact in the industry and contribute to creating value for our clients.
In THEMA, you quickly get to know your colleagues and participate on projects from day one. As a new employee I was immediately given responsibility. At the same time, I had knowledgeable colleagues to guide me when necessary. I think we have a nice working environment with a tradition for sharing knowledge and helping each other. Outside of work, we have social gatherings such as THEMActive and “Ung i THEMA”, where we do different social activities.
My work in THEMA focusses on business strategy, business development and tailored studies for a wide range of stakeholders in the energy sector. Ambitious climate and energy policies, structural changes within the sector and the rapid development of renewable energy technology affect all aspects of the industry, and I work with several issues related to these for our clients.

I graduated from the University of Bergen with a Master of Economics in the spring of 2020 and started my career in THEMA the following autumn. In my opinion, the transition to a renewable power system is the most important challenge we will have to face in the years to come. Therefore, it is very interesting to work in a company that works with the most central issues related to this challenge every single day.
At THEMA, I work on a wide range of projects, including support schemes for renewable energy systems, market design and public policy on decarbonisation. This includes climate and energy policy, network regulation and tariff design. In addition, I have been involved in a range of projects evaluating the power price hedging opportunities in the Nordic power market.
The width of projects I have worked with in THEMA so far gives me varied workdays and I always learn something new. Being at THEMA allows me to use my education to work on many interesting problems. In addition, I have a lot freedom to choose what topics I want to work on, and how to approach the projects.
